HEDP has multifunctional properties that includes scale inhibition and corrosion inhibition. It is very good complexing agent for metal ions like Fe, Cu, and Zn. It shows good chemical stability under high pH value. Furthermore, it is difficult to hydrolyze and decompose under ordinary light and heat conditions.
HEDP is used as corrosion and scale inhibition in circulating cooling water systems, low-pressure boilers and in oil field applications such as electric power, refineries, chemical industry, fertilizer and metallurgy etc.
