For 25 years, Microsoft has steadily contributed to enabling a digital economy by way of its work in the area of education, skill development, and offering a stable of solutions and technologies that create a strong framework to realize the ambitions of Digital India. Our recent effort to build local cloud infrastructure is aimed to enable the government to deliver better citizen services and inclusive growth to two billion strong populations in a mobile-first, cloud-first world. While at the same time, empowering our enterprises to achieve their full potential by way of harnessing insights drawn from computing their biggest asset- data.

Our Footprint
With over 7,000 employees, Microsoft runs six major business units in India representing the entire product cycle to serve various stakeholders including consumers, corporations, gamers and the government. These are:
1.Microsoft Research India, (MSR India), Bangalore. The India lab is engaged in cutting-edge basic and applied research in multiple fields in computing, information technology, and related areas.
2.Microsoft India Development Center (MSIDC), Hyderabad. One of Microsoft Corporation’s largest R&D centers outside its headquarters in Redmond, MSIDC is a part of Microsoft Corporation’s strategy of global shared development where teams across geographies collaborate to build software and services across four engineering groups, namely, Application & Services (A&S), Cloud & Enterprise (C&E), Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS) and Operating Systems (OS).
3.Microsoft IT is responsible for security, infrastructure, messaging and business applications for all of Microsoft.
4.Microsoft Services Global Delivery, is a co-located consulting-led delivery organization that help customers deploy future-ready solutions and emerging Microsoft technologies.
5.Microsoft Corporation India (Pvt.) Ltd., is engaged in consulting and marketing of Microsoft products. It has ten offices in India - Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Gurgaon and Pune.
6.Microsoft India Global Technical Support Center (IGTSC), Bangalore, is an integral part of Microsoft's Customer Service and Support (CSS) organization, providing technical resolution services to Microsoft's Enterprise customers and partners across geographies.

Microsoft Cloud
As one of the largest cloud operators in the world, the Microsoft Cloud is designed to empower Governments, large businesses, small and medium businesses (SMBs) and citizens to achieve more. In September this year, Microsoft announced the availability of Microsoft Azure services via three local datacenter regions in India. The Microsoft Cloud enables on-demand scalability and technology for real-time data insights through advanced cloud services like Machine Leaning (ML), Advanced Analytics, Media Services, Internet of Things (IoT), Express Route and more to organizations at the click of a button.

Built on foundational principles of security, privacy & control, compliance and transparency, the Microsoft Cloud, including Azure and Office 365, supports compliance with a broad set of industry-specific laws and meets broad international standards. As one of the largest cloud operators in the world, Microsoft has invested more than $15 billion in building a resilient cloud infrastructure with more than 100 datacenters located in over 40 countries.

Making a Real Impact
Microsoft works in close partnership with all stakeholders, including governments, Indian IT industry and academia, and Non-Governmental agencies to ensure that technology is leveraged as a catalyst to make a real impact in people’s lives. Through our programs, we have impacted more than 5 crore people across 20 states in the last decade alone. Some of the program that have enables us to empower people include Partners in Learning – Project Shiksha; YouthSpark - Project Jyoti; Project Bhasha DreamSpark and Microsoft Academia Accelerator among many others.

Fostering a Startup Ecosystem
Microsoft Ventures is a global initiative to help entrepreneurs build great companies. We work with late stage startups and provide the tools, resources, and expertise they need to succeed. The initiative is broad-based, and includes a community program and accelerators. Our approach helps startups scale their business, bring innovative services to market and reach new customers.
